A special project of the World Hunger Drive was the building of a chapel in Tremesee, a village in Haiti. The chapel serves as a multi-purpose spiritual center, with Masses, student classrooms, offices, and adult education classes which provide prenatal and cholera training. This chapel serves as a meeting place for the people of the village to come together, to grow as a community and strengthen their faith.
The land for the chapel and the 2,800 square foot building were donated by a group of St. Matthew parishioners in partnership with Hands for Haiti.
The chapel was completed in June 2014. St. Matthew has sent many supplies for the chapel.
